Easy Fruit Kuchen Coffeecake

1-1/2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk

Preheat oven to 375. grease a 13x9 inch baking pan; set aside. Prepare cake batter by combining flour and sugar in large mixing bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg and milk just until blended. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.

3 cups sliced fresh plums, peaches, apples or pears
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teas cinnamon*
3 tbls melted butter or margarine

Overlap sliced fruit in rows over batter. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over fruit. Drizzle with melted butter. Bake 28-35 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperture.

Note: If using a glass baking dish, reduce oven temperture to 350.

*If using pears, omit cinnamon.
